Do you have a fear of missing out? Otherwise known as FOMO, in today’s language.  Maybe you find yourself living in a small town in the countryside, but you know there’s so much to explore and to experience in the world…. You can see the future planned out ahead of you with the wife and 2 kids, but you have this feeling of missing out on life’s adventures.  Do you ever get this feeling? Well, you’re not alone, as most everyone experiences this throughout his or her life. And Today I’m going to talk about the dreaded FOMO with Jason Chatfield. He is a fellow Australian, widely popular cartoonist, Vice president of the National Cartoonist’s society, and Stand-up comedian where he lives in New York City. Enjoy the show! And today I’m joined Sincere Hogan, the host of the “Live Life Aggressively” podcast, holistic strength and conditioning coach, and founder of New Warrior Coffee. Are you thinking of starting a business? Maybe you want to, but work a full time job…and extra time is hard to come by. Tai Lopez is with me today as we chat about the journey of beginning your first entrepreneurial venture. He believes it's very important to avoid extreme ideologies when first beginning. For example, maybe you’ve been told to quit the steady job and paycheck, and just go for it. Or maybe you want to have the perfect fail proof plan in place before you set sail into business… But the answer always lies in between. Make a transition plan, and stick to it. If you don’t like what you’re doing, make an 18-month transition plan (as Peter Drucker says). And whatever you do, make sure to start with knowledge. Research the successful entrepreneurs in your field, and find out WHY. Enjoy the show! Let me know what you think on twitter and instagram @jamesswanwick and  www.jamesswanwick.com

How harmful can blue light be? Well, besides disrupting our melatonin production, it’s been linked to a myriad of diseases including cancer. During the day, you don’t really need to worry about your blue light your exposure …but at night it’s a different story. Until the advent of artificial lighting, the sun was the major source of lighting, and people spent their evenings in relative darkness, besides natural candlelight.  But nowadays, easing into bed with a laptop or tablet makes it harder to take a strong snooze, because it mimics the sun (signaling to you it’s daytime).  But there is hope! You can wear specially designed blue blocker glasses, which have an orange tint on the lens, that block most of the harmful light. Think of the orange construction glasses. Ideally you want to wear these 4 hours before bed, so your body can prepare for the night soon ahead. Enjoy the show! Is your commute to work slowly killing you?  Is being stuck in traffic slowly adding to your waistline and stress levels?  I’ve just left my office and I’m walking down Sunset Boulevard at the moment, watching as traffic is piling up. Fortunately I only live five minutes down the road, so my stress levels are not getting spiked.  In the book “The Happiness Hypothesis” by Jonathan Haidt, he mentions the longer your commute in traffic is, the higher your cortisol level goes up (stress). What does your daily commute look like? Enjoy the show! Let me know what you think on instagram and twitter @jamesswanwick  www.jamesswanwick.com

Is there a hidden danger lurking in your delicious, beloved green smoothie? Today I’m showing you how I make my morning no fruit green smoothie, with lots of leafy greens, good fats, and natural anti-inflammatories.  But I’m not just adding the spinach/kale straight to the blender…I’m lightly browning them on the stove to destroy most of the oxalic acid first. Oxalic acid is a naturally occurring chemical in plants and animals and is also consumed in a variety of different foods such as leafy greens and seeds. Concentrations of oxalic acid are pretty low in most plants, but there's enough in spinach, dark leafy greens and beet greens to interfere with the absorption of calcium and minerals these plants also contain. But don’t avoid these super foods just because of that. They have a lot to offer nutritionally, such as folic acid, potassium, magnesium, vitamin k, vitamin c, and many others. Enjoy the show! What is the benefit of attending an in person conference? Why not just read a book, watch a video, or practice something on your own? Well, according to top neuroscientists it’s shown that humans learn best when they are able to interact with their environment, and see and touch their surroundings. When should you say you are “sorry?” Too many people don’t like to admit their own mistakes…they either blame circumstances, they blame someone else, or just don’t say anything at all and remain silent. But that can be a slippery slope, and possibly lead to creating resentment in other people down the road. That’s why it’s so important to over communicate. Even if that means saying you made a mistake and swallowing your pride for a moment, it’s far better than sitting still. Today I want to share with you a story that happened recently, involving a product of mine.  And the moral behind the story being, when something is not right, voice your opinion and take action. Taking responsibility is far better than anything else. Enjoy the show! Let me know what you think on twitter and instagram @jamesswanwick     www.jamesswanwick.com

Are you still stuck? Do you feel you’re in a rut that you can never get out of? Maybe you want to quit you’re job, or get out of that relationship…. but you don’t know how too? In reality, this is one of the most common questions I get asked. ”James, how can I get unstuck?” Well today I want to walk you through an exercise to show you exactly how you can get unstuck. It’s great to write down what you want to create in you’re life, but some people have a tough time with this. That’s why I recommend figuring out what you “do not” want to create in you’re life. This is a powerful exercise that can really shed more light on what you’re looking for. Enjoy the show! Also, if you’re interested in attending Tai Lopez’s in person seminar on April 26th, you can click on the link below. It’s going to be an amazing event, all about moving from you’re current situation into a life and business you love. Today he is going to lay the groundwork for adding that elusive muscle and weight, and getting the body you desire. Mark is actually going through a bulking phase himself at the moment, so his is fully practicing what he’s preaching…One of main reason’s people have trouble putting on mass is simply because their not eating enough calories throughout the day. When was the last time you traveled somewhere new? Today I’m joining you from The Ronald Regan Presidential Library in Simi Valley, which is about 45 minutes north of LA.  And I want to talk about the importance of getting out of your normal environment and your comfort zone. Going somewhere new is a great way to see different lands and also a perfect time to do some “deep thinking.” It’s not often we can take time out of our busy days and just be still for 30 minutes. But when you’re able to do this, good things happen…. new business ideas come up, valuable insight arises, and you become very present by noticing the subtleties of life.  How different would your life be if you thought deeply everyday?  Enjoy the show! Today I’m recording live from Tai Lopez’s retreat in West Hollywood. And right now there’s a group of 6 of us running down through Runyon Canyon, getting a great workout in.  Running with us is Dr. Jeff Donatello, who has dedicated his practice to helping people with chronic conditions through the use of functional medicine and nutrition.  In regards to genetics he believes that your parents give you the “gun” and you are responsible for putting the “bullets” in it.  So your overall state health is mostly dependent on the lifestyle choices that you make.  A small percentage does come from your parent’s genes, but the majority is up to you.  Enjoy the show! Don’t follow your passion? Yes, you might be scratching your head reading this one…. But today I’m speaking with my mentor Tai Lopez on why this has some truth. In any successful business or venture that you do in life, there has to be some element of passion. But what we are talking about today is the cliché…that you must have a career in something you absolutely love. But what you like and what you are most passionate about, doesn’t always translate into excellence or business success. Today Tai explains that the only real way to make an impact in the world is to become an “expert.”  Then once you become an expert you must be able to capture that value.  For example, you could be the best musician in the world, but if you’re unable to sell albums and capture that monetarily, then is that success? Listen is as Tai explains how to create massive impact and discover your Eulerian destiny! Welcome to a special episode of the James Swanwick show. Today marks 5 years to the date, since I quit alcohol. It’s my 5 year no drinking anniversary. And I still get asked this question quite often, “How and why did you stop drinking? Did you have a problem and an addiction beforehand?”  The truth is, I wasn’t an alcoholic back then and I really didn’t have a problem.  But I was drinking on the weekends, and I generally felt sluggish and run down. So I decided to embark on a  30-day break from beer and alcohol, and see how I felt as a result of the experiment. After the 30 days, I loved how I felt…I lost weight, saved money, gained confidence, and was more energized throughout the day. Now I don’t want to walk you through my entire story here, but today I want to share something that I’ve created called “The 30 Day No Alcohol Challenge.”  Yes-It’s 30 days without a single drop of alcohol! Would you be up for the challenge, or would you cave in? If you want to check it out, you can go to “30 day no alcohol challange.com”   There you can see a picture of me when I was 220 pounds (next to Jennifer Aniston), compared to 194lbs, where I’m at now.  Enjoy the show! Welcome to another episode of the James Swanwick show.  It’s a Tuesday night here, and I’m having my apartment warming party at my new place in West Hollywood.  Just to set the scene, I have about 22 people in my apartment where we’re all gathered. It’s a potluck party so everyone’s brought a different dish. And the food everyone brought was amazing…. you can actually check out the spread on my Instagram and see all the delicious dishes. In this episode I will be playing some of the sounds from the night, as I mingled with everyone and interviewed some of the fascinating guests here at my place. And I encourage you to plan your own potluck too!  It’s a great way to catch up with old friends ,while not have to worry about traveling all over town just to connect.  All you have to do is invite 12 or so friends and tell them to bring 1 friend each. That way you can meet up with old friends and have the opportunity to connect with new ones too. I will usually host them midweek, on a Tuesday or Wednesday night, since many people are too busy on Friday and the weekend. So get out there and host your own potluck party, and let me know how it goes. Enjoy the show! Let me know what you think on twitter and instagram @jamesswanwick   www.jamesswanwick.com

Why is having friends so important? Why is being social so important? How can being social affect your physical, mental, and financial health? Well today I’m doing a review of an incredible book called “Social: Why our Brains are Wired to Connect” by Mathew Lieberman. He is a social psychologist who’s extensively studied and researched the human brain, and why we have an instinctive need to connect with other people. Lieberman argues that our need to reach out and to connect with others is a primary driver behind our behavior. In fact his research shows that our brains react to social pain and pleasure in much the same way as they do to physical pain and pleasure. And that the social pain can often times be worse….For example, if you were bullied as a child or had your heart broken, that pain can be more intense and more damaging to you than the physical pain of a broken bone or torn muscle. What are you putting off that can get done today? Do you save your hardest and most important task until the end of the day?  Well, today I want to talk to you about “kissing the frog.” It’s a term that popular self-help author and speaker, Brian Tracy coined a while back. The theory behind it is, that when you wake up in the morning you do your hardest and most important tasks first. The thing you’re least looking forward to. By doing this, you are essentially “kissing the frog.”  And by getting that one task out of the way, you’re able to progress through the rest of your day with relative ease. Do you welcome change with open arms? Or do you fight change as often as possible? Well, Today I’m talking about why change is good and why you should embrace it. While we are often resistant to change, we don’t realize that life itself is always changing. Nothing is constant really…Change is inevitable, so you might as well embrace it. Also, as we change and grow, we gain a deeper understanding and appreciation of the world and how we see others. Moreover we are forced to step out side of our comfort zone, and that is usually where all the magic happens. Well, if you’ve been listening to the show, you know that I’m a huge proponent of a mentorship. The mistakes we make in our everyday lives can set us back years and even decades, from where we want to be. Unless you know the perfect formula to go through life, you can repeat the vicious cycle of making the same mistakes over and over again. This is why it’s so important to invest in coaches and mentors. You want to tap into minds of people who have been there, made the mistakes, and can show you the path to success and happiness. The excuse I’m giving is that I’ve been moving into a new apartment and have been very busy at the moment. If you remember I left to Australia back in November, and because of that I suspended my gym membership. And I’ve only just now renewed my gym membership, here in February. Is your fitness routine giving you the results you desire? Are you growing bored of doing the same exercises and doing the same movements over and over? The answer is HIT, short for high intensity interval training. If you’re not familiar with HIT, it’s any workout that alternates between intense bursts of activity and fixed periods of rest. An example of this would be sprinting on the treadmill for 1 minute, then doing a set of burpees, and then doing a set of squat thrusters. You can repeat this 2-3 times, just depending on your fitness level. It really sounds too simple to be effective, but the science behind HIT doesn’t lie. In fact some of the benefits are,  you can do a HIT workout in 15 minutes if you’re  “too busy” to work out,  you can burn more fat and calories than a regular workout, and HIT will also help fire up your metabolism. How often do you attend seminars and conferences? I just recently attended a conference called the Affiliate Summit, in the wonderful city of Las Vegas.

It’s a summit where online marketers come to meet affiliates, to promote other online entrepreneurs’ products.  It’s all about creating opportunities and connecting with like-minded people.  And to be honest, I really didn’t want to go at first. If you remember, I’ve only just got back from Australia a few weeks ago, and traveling again wasn’t at the top of my list. But, I decided to go anyways. And as I say, when in doubt, go to where all the people are. You never know what can happen, and what new opportunities can arise. So I encourage you to take the jump… go to a seminar, go to a conference, go to a meet-up, and surround yourself with people that want to succeed. This episode is the culmination of what happened over the 48 hours I was in Las Vegas.  I got to meet potential business partners, make new connections, learn more about online marketing, and have a little fun as well. In early January I asked you to “please criticize me.” I created an episode where I asked you to criticize what you don’t like about the James Swanwick Show, what you don’t like about me, and what I can do to improve. The whole reasoning behind this was that only through constructive criticism can we realize out blind spots and become better. While its great to get positive feedback, I get the most value and insight from criticism. In this episode I will be playing some of the voice messages I received and reading some of the emails I got. Thank you, to all of you who gave me your feedback. I appreciate it! And if you’re looking to take your performance to the next level, there are some daily practices you can incorporate into your own life to supercharge your day. Today we are talking about American sports, from an Australian’s perspective. I’ve been living in the US for about 11 years now…But I’m visiting Australia for the holidays, and its crazy how many people I’ve seen walking around with American jerseys on. I’ve seen Lakers shirts, Boston Celtics gear, and tons of NFL clothing.  So what do Aussies really think of American sports? Are they really that popular down here? To help me cover this, I’m bringing in my old ESPN Sports Center co-host, Thai Neave, and I sent a reporter to an NBA game. Listen in!! www.jamesswanwick.com
